Pearls are timeless and beautiful, which is why they have always held a great fascination for people. For centuries, they have served as currency, jewelry, symbols, or as aids for prayer rituals.

The history of glass beads and everything worth knowing about glass as a material are at the beginning of this fundamental work. Setting up a workspace and the topic of health are also given much attention, as they form the basis for calm and safe working. The main part of the book consists of the numerous techniques of glass bead making. Step-by-step, the reader is introduced to the basic technique of winding a base bead and subsequently, with increasing levels of difficulty, to many other techniques such as disc beads, figurative beads, hollow beads, or cased beads. The author also shows how to mix colors yourself, how complex glass rods are manufactured, or how to decorate beads with glass frit or enamel.

All techniques are explained using detailed photographs, and finished jewelry objects provide inspiration for your own jewelry creations.

Product care & materials

What materials do you use?

We use a wide variety of materials – including 925 sterling silver, stainless steel and surgical steel, nickel-free silver-plated and gold-plated metals, genuine minerals, glass, and many other materials for jewelry making.

In our own workshop, we also handcraft glass beads that we use for individual jewelry pieces and accessories.

What's the best way to care for my jewelry?

Keep your jewelry as dry as possible and preferably store pieces individually. Avoid direct contact with perfume, cosmetics, and cleaning agents. If necessary, clean your jewelry gently with a soft cloth. This will help maintain its color, shine, and beauty for as long as possible.

Can I wear my jewelry while showering or exercising?

We recommend removing jewelry before showering, swimming, or exercising – moisture, chlorine, and sweat can damage some materials.
