Vetromagic Frits COE 104
Multicolor light - is a silver glass that can be "struck" into a wide variety of color variations using intense heat and rapid cooling.
The color spectrum ranges from light turquoise to beige, violet, and blue...
Processing instructions:
First, roll the base bead (it works particularly well on: black, amethyst, light blue opaque, light ivory from Ornela (not Moretti!), and clear glass) in the frits, melt the frits in, get the bead very hot, and then rapidly cool it down, e.g., by pressing or rolling it on metal/graphite.
Wait a moment - Multicolor will begin to color itself again.
Now strike it in the back area of the flame - when the frits appear dark brown, the strike cycle begins.
Now you can gently reheat the glass, let it cool, and repeat until you are happy with the effect.
The result becomes particularly colorful if you do not heat the whole bead evenly, but instead heat only parts of it and then, for example, swirl it.
Multicolor light is only suitable for single-gas torches to a limited extent, because there is not enough heat generated for the first step.
For beginners, we recommend Magic, as the reactions are easier to achieve, or a mixture that contains Magic, Multicolor, and a few other colors - e.g., Citylights.
The previously available frit mixtures usually have a COE of 92-98.
Although the glass used has the advantage of being very color-intensive and producing beautiful reactions, it also has several disadvantages: many colors tend to devitrify, contain high levels of lead, and react strongly with silver.
Above all, however, a COE that deviates from the glass of the base bead and the overlay can lead to difficulties.
Therefore, we have decided to offer frits and frit mixtures in COE 104.
Glass powder and powder mixtures with a coefficient of expansion (COE) of 104 are made from the exact same glass most commonly used in bead making: Effetre (Moretti), Reichenbach 104 Lampworking series ... and are therefore completely compatible and suitable for both beginners and advanced bead makers.
